INLAND BLUE HOLE & ST. HERMAN'S CAVE
Your guide will meet you in Belize City. Drive down
the Western Highway to Belmopan, and then down
the Hummingbird Highway (one hour and a half total)
until you get to the inland Blue Hole. Be sure to bring
some swim wear with you. The Blue Hole is a sinkhole
formed by the collapse of an underground river
channel. The exposed section of the underground
Cave Branch Creek tributary can be viewed at about
150 feet before it disappears again beneath the
surface.The park is over 800 acres in size with hiking
trails and features swimming, nature trails and St.
Herman's Cave. Take a swim then go for a walk and
hike the caves. Or do it in reverse. New additions to
the park include an observation tower and campsites.
Blue Hole steps lead to a 25-foot deep pool, for which
the area is named. On the ride back, stop and enjoy
the Belize Zoo if you wish.
